Therapeutic Approach

Danielle is a psychotherapist who works with children, adolescents and adults and she tailors therapeutic methodologies based on individual needs. Her approach is informed by Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems Theory, and Mindfulness-Based Therapy approaches. Danielle is a Santa Monica, California based therapist, offering in-person sessions in Santa Monica and telehealth sessions in California, New York, Colorado, and Connecticut.

 

She has over a decade of experience working as a private practice therapist, pediatric medical social worker, palliative care researcher and bereavement coordinator. Danielle specializes in supporting people of all ages who are navigating symptoms related to depression, anxiety, life transitions and grief. She helps to develop emotion regulation skills and behaviors, improve relationships, and optimize communication patterns. She has an expertise in supporting those facing serious illness and their loved ones across the illness trajectory, from diagnosis and into bereavement. Danielle is also has extensive experience working with children, teens and families who are navigating issues related to childhood.

 

As a therapist, she is committed to understanding individual perspectives and experiences, assisting people in articulating their unique needs and goals in order to optimize emotional well-being and happiness. She aims to create a safe and supportive environment that empowers individuals to explore their genuine selves. Academic Work

Prior to starting her therapy practice, Danielle worked as a pediatric palliative care social worker and bereavement coordinator at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Danielle is fellowship trained in interdisciplinary pediatric palliative care from Harvard Medical School, Boston Children's Hospital and The Dana Farber Cancer Institute and holds a Master's degree in Social Work from Indiana University.

In addition to her work as a therapist, Danielle has been published in several prestigious medical journals such as the Journal for Pain and Symptom Management and The Journal of Palliative Medicine, and has co-authored several academic textbook chapters. She has been published on topics such as: social disparities in pediatric palliative care, core competencies for social workers in pediatric palliative care, parent decision making for children with medical complexities, and bereavement care for the entire family and community following the death of a child. 

She also served as the the Chair and Member of the Board of Directors for the Social Work Hospice and Palliative Care Network (SWHPN) from 2020-2024, and worked as an Adjunct Professor at the New York University Silver School of Social Work from 2019-2023. Currently, she is a PhD Candidate of Social Work at NYU, where she is conducting research to examine the lived experience of siblings to children with severe neurologic impairment.
